So, being jet-lagged after a 6 hour time difference, Angel and I slept in until after 9:00 a.m., Ireland time, which is 3:00 a.m. U.S. Central standard time. We are both grateful for an extra day to acclimate to the time change before we start hiking. We discovered a coffee roastery across the street, where we grabbed breakfast and coffee.
It was so good, after we walked nearly 3 miles around the quaint city of Tralee, we returned for a late light lunch. For all those people who told me the food in Ireland was nothing special…well, I don’t know where ya’ll ate, but so far we have been well pleased with the grub.
After having breakfast, we strolled though the Tralee Town Park, including the Rose Walk and the Garden of the Senses.
We then wandered out of the park, through the narrow streets of the city. We only got lost once, but a friendly local pointed us in the right direction. On our way back to the hotel, we spied an Indian restaurant that we have decided to try for dinner. Today was essentially an easy rest day. Tomorrow, we walk! We will begin our journey here in Tralee and will conclude tomorrow’s walk in the town of Camp. Tomorrow’s journey is 20 km and estimated to take us 6 hours. Stay tuned and follow us as we make life DIY and walk the Wild Atlantic Way!
